The first 12 weeks of a pregnancy is crucial to a healthy pregnancy. The baby affects a woman in many ways before they even realize they are pregnant. Typical signs of a pregnancy include reaction to smells that were never a prior issue. Breasts may become tender and a woman may feel nauseous as hormones increase with the pregnancy. The first 12 weeks of a pregnancy results in tremendous growth to the baby. A baby grows from a single sperm and egg into a small little thing averaging two inches in length. The baby has working fingers and toes. A heartbeat is able to be registered in the doctor’s office and sucking motions are made with their mouths. The brain is rapidly growing and developing now.

The second trimester includes massive changes to a woman and the baby’s body. A woman will start to show signs of pregnancy and feel movement within her uterus. A baby will weigh about two pounds and be approximately 14 inches by the end of the second trimester. The baby sleeps regularly and has active times. The body and organs are all fully intact needing only growth to sustain life at this point in the pregnancy.

The third trimester continues in massive changes to a woman and the baby. Pregnant women may urinate much more frequently as the baby grows and presses onto the bladder. Some women may experience some swelling of the feet and ankles as the pregnancy progresses. The pregnancy week by week now consists of the baby finishing the growth process and organs maturing. A baby born during the third trimester has an excellent change of survival with a little medical intervention if the lungs are not fully developed at birth. Labor pains may start and delivery will usually occur between 38 and 42 weeks of pregnancy.

However, there are some situations where manual operation is not the best one. If we want to automate the process, so that a particular device or component activates when an event occurs, we need to use a different kind of switch. For example, if you have a smoke alarm in your house, you would want the switch to turn on if the component inside the device detected smoke in the air, so that the alarm would sound without you having to trip it. In situations such as this, reed switches are used to make the formation and breaking of electrical contact automatic.

At its most basic, a reed switch is an electrical component which operates when a magnetic field, either from a permanent magnet or from an electromagnet, is applied to it. Inside the switch are two or more fine metal ‘reeds’ which are flexible and capable of being magnetized. Effectively, within an electric circuit the reed switch behaves like a drawbridge, enabling or disabling the flow of electrical current depending on whether it is closed or open. When the switch is in the open position, the end segments of these reeds are separated by a minute gap, meaning that current is unable to flow across it. The metal reeds are encased in a very fine glass container. When a magnet approaches a reed switch, the two reeds become magnetized in opposite directions, causing them to attract each other. As a result, the reeds move to meet, completing the circuit and enabling the flow of electrical current. The default position of the reed switch is off, and it will only activate when a magnetic field is applied to it.

In many modern appliances, reed switches are necessary for the functions we’ve come to take for granted, and they are widely used because they are inexpensive to produce and highly reliable. Your laptop or mobile phone may contain a great many reed switches. They are also used in speed sensors fixed to bicycle wheels, car gears, computer terminal keyboards, electronic pedal keyboards and intruder sensors.

The exhibit contained dozens of ornately adorned designs from well-know designers through the ages including Christian LaCroix, Thierry Mugler, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. These designers are known for their over the top designs and always have beautiful, ornate collections so choosing one for the exhibit must have been an exhausting process.

One of the modern designs that stood out was a dress from the 1999-2000 Givenchy collection designed by Alexander McQueen. After his death in early 2010, the choice of his gown was particularly poignant as everyone would have their eyes on the exhibit if only to see which Alexander McQueen ensemble was chosen. He was known as a highly avante-garde designer and frequently had flamboyant styles that made the news for more than just their style. He often chose to use his desgins as a billboard for his political and socal opinion. They never failed to get the media attention he wanted and deserved.

Finding inspiration from fashion through the ages, and specifically from the royalty of the 18th century and making changes so that the garment looks current in today’s fashion world takes an incredible amount of skill and fashion inspiration. The Parisian exhibit was a great addition to Fashion Week and gave the attendees something to think about as they watched current fashion shows as well.

About 91 percent of all women who participated said they occasionally like to drink alcohol. As many as 68 percent of the women say they drink significantly more alcohol in the summer. Most of the women prefer drinking at home or in bars and beer and wine are the most popular drinks. Prosecco, cocktails and other drinks are not nearly as popular.

Like men, women prefer drinking with friends (39 percent) or with their partner (25 percent). Women rarely ever drink alone. Only 2 percent of the questioned women drink alcoholic drinks without any company.

Hangover

Showing up at work with a hangover can sometimes be a big problem. More than one fifth (21 percent) of the respondents admit that their work sometimes suffers from hangovers. Yet few women actually go to work when having a hangover. Only 2 percent of all women have a hangover at work every week. 53 percent of the women said this happens very rarely and 37 percent of the respondents say they have never had a hangover at work.

The Dutch magazine Viva also unveils other interesting and funny information about womens behaviros in and around the house. The research shows that this summer lot’s of Dutch women bought the so called vliegengordijnen (Fly Curtains) for decoration.

The exposition, that looks back on the most spectacular and influential pieces of the fashion icon, opened its doors in early May and lead to the museum’s biggest opening day to date. McQueen’s work can be seen in the museum until August 7 and the museum still expects many visitors in the coming weeks.

The exposition has been a great success and one afternoon this summer it was so crowded, that McQueen’s art could barely be seen. Most people were blocking the art and getting close to the art was not an easy task for most visitors. The exposition’s website reports that there is a chance that people will have to stand in line. It’s not always as crowded though and the exposition’s website, Savage Beauty, does have some tips for people that still intend to visit the exhibition. Since it’s usually most crowded during weekends, the website recommends people to visit in the morning or on weekdays to avoid having to stand in line.

There procedures, to change the shape of the face, are in the making for men as well as women. It does seem like plastic surgery clinics will first focus on surgery that cuts away part of the bone and make the face more round. This type of surgery will be performed in America, but most research has been conducted in countries such as South Korea and China.

Plastic surgery is very popular in these countries, especially South Korea, where many women undergo plastic surgery. Eye lid surgery is most common Korea.

Jeffrey Spiegel, chief of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine, says that experts in the field of plastic surgery are starting to realize that making changes to bones gives better results than just changing skin. This makes it possible to achieve good and attractive changes.

A study has shown that men who had this type of surgery in China were happy with the changes and had no major complications. Although some men suffered some trouble in the first few weeks, the surgery was successful and no major complications occurred.

Since having a round face is feminine, removing bone will be a surgery that will mainly be popular amongst females, although it could also be useful for transsexuals or men who just want a more feminine face. The surgery will costs around $10.000.

According to several experts, surgery for adding silicone implants will most probably be available in the future.
